CRISPIN McNALLY
Crispin McNally has been fascinated with ceramics since a childhood visit to Greece.
Graduating from the Central School of Art in 1984, he travelled west to study ceramics in Sedona, Arizona.
It was there he learnt the discipline of commercial pottery manufacturing and porcelain ware at Son Silver West Gallery.
Relocating to Cornwall in 2001, he attended the Falmouth School of Art and Design and began researching and practising Nerikomi ceramics.
Nerikomi is a modern Japanese term for a technique which is also called neriage, as process developed during the T'ang dynasty, in 7th century China. It involves blending porcelain clay with coloured stains to produce coloured blocks of clay, using this process has allowed Crispin to pursue his fascination with colour in ceramics.
Crispin has honed his skills while working as resident potter at a rehabilitation centre and is now creating unique ceramic vessels and jewellery of artistic quality.
