TREVOR CORSER
Born in Oldham, Lancashire, Trevor moved to St Ives in the early sixties and spent four years working a boat diving for crayfish and lobsters, and also working at the Leach Pottery as a casual labourer, mixing clay, packing pots etc until he started at the Pottery full time in 1965.
He taught himself to throw under the guidance of Bernard Leach, William Marshall and the other Potters including Janet Leach. Trevor was the only full time Potter at the Pottery in the later years, where on about a five week cycle he fired a 35 cubic foot gas fired kiln.
He worked for over 39 years there, until he was locked out in June 2005. He has now worked at the Gaolyard Studios for just over a year. He has had many Exhibitions at home and abroad, and has pots in numerous Private collections.
Trevor was awarded the 'Prince of Wales Commendation' for crafts 1978-1979.
He was the first Potter to be invited to exhibit pots 'in use' when the Tate Gallery St Ives opened in 1993.
