RACHEL KANTARIS

Rachel Kantaris  was born in Australia in the sixties and now lives and works in St Ives.  She has an MA from Brighton University in Fine Art Printmaking and a BA (Hons) in Visual and Performing Arts. Rachel Kantaris has also studied lithography at the London School of Printing.  Rachel Kantaris has exhibited widely since 1988 in Belgium, Germany, London, Bristol and Cornwall.  Her work is supplied to galleries throughout Europe.

In 1990 Rachel Kantaris worked in Melbourne, Australia designing and weaving large-scale tapestries including work commissioned for Parliament House, Canberra.  She later spent four months in a large print studio in Berlin where she also taught English and Art to private students.  In 1994 Rachel Kantaris returned to St Ives to assist in setting up the Trevor Price Studios, a fully equipped etching workshop. 

Since 1995 Rachel Kantaris has been a studio-based artist at the Porthmeor Print Workshop, St Ives.  At the studio Rachel oversees the running of the workshop and is strongly involved in all new developments, including a varied educational programme, Rachel Kantaris
